ABOUT CFD

Cathy French Design probably began when I chose garden chores over indoor chores many seasons ago.  Years of gardening led to an appreciation of the benefits of planning and design for a successful garden.  In turn, I fully embraced the study of Landscape Design.

I work with the varying needs of the client, from a one hour consultation to a conceptual design to a master plan with installation oversight.  For the latter, I begin with a site visit and consultation to determine your goals.  I then do a site inventory, a site analysis that evaluates location, orientation, micro-climates, poetics of the site, etc, and work through the design phases with you to achieve your goals.

In addition, I am offering a blog to discuss issues surrounding gardening and landscape design.   Hope Springs Eternal, our website blog, will focus on the challenges of high altitude gardening in zones 3 and 4, as well as minimizing the 'contributions' of moose, elk, beaver and other assorted re-designers of gardens.  Sources and lessons learned from experience from projects both in California and Wyoming will also be included. I hope you will enjoy and comment on our plant ideas, gardening tips, and design inspirations.
